Genesis 1:1

“And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.”

This year I’m hoping to post a verse a day from the Bible with a few of my thoughts. I think it will be a great way to stay in the Word.

I’ve been thinking of this verse for the past several weeks and I thought it would be a good place to start.

Jason spoke to our elementary chapel after our Thanksgiving holiday about this verse. We were ready to light our Christmas tree in the foyer and so Jason came out and shared a short message with us.

These words are the first words we find spoken in the Bible. In a world of such darkness, God speaks and brings forth light. In my own life, there is darkness from the outside, from the world, and it is encouraging that our God brings newness everyday through light and THE light.

“And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.”
