In Focus 188

Today is Joshua and Abby Kate’s 12th birthday! I can hardly believe that it has already been twelve years. It seems like only yesterday that we were visiting our family doctor, stopping for the lunch buffet at Pizza Hut, at my appointment with Dr. Bailey and hearing him tell us it was time to go. It seems like only yesterday that we were calling our family and telling them that it was time, that we were packing our bags and I was waiting for what seemed like an eternity on Jason to get me to the hospital. It seems like only yesterday that we were checking in to the hospital, that we were surrounded by so many friends and family in the hospital room, that Jason and Lee were blowing up gloves and making videos. And it seems like only yesterday that we were praising God for our answered prayers over the birth of a healthy girl and a healthy boy who came early and were very small…

Joshua is our energetic, athletic, happy, silly, sport-loving boy! He always wakes up early and goes to bed late. He loves to take advantage of every opportunity of time that he has in any given day. He always has a ball in hand and will find a way to throw, hit, toss, and catch that ball all day long. He loves to sneak hugs from me and will always ask me what he can do to help. He doesn’t like doing chores, making sandwiches, and cleaning up his messes. He has always made me laugh and continues to make me laugh. He has a tender heart and he also has a heart seeking justice. I am blessed to be Joshua’s mom and to be loved by him.

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9
Abby Kate is our independent, quiet, loyal, responsible, servant-hearted, book-loving girl. She loves having time to herself, but also loves spending time with her family and friends. Abby Kate loves to help others. She has been helping at our church baby showers for awhile now and loves it. She loves to help me around the house and in my classroom and loves to learn how to cook. Abby Kate also loves to organize and that makes this momma proud. Abby Kate doesn’t like disorder and being bothered by her brothers. There is hardly a book that Abby Kate has not found time to read. She is a deep thinker and loves to ask us questions. She is a very beautiful young lady. I am blessed to be Abby Kate’s mom and to be loved by her.

“I delight greatly in the Lord; my soul rejoices in my God.” Isaiah 61:10
We have been blessed by having two children at the same time. It has come and will continue to come with its own set of challenges. However, it has also come and will continue to come with a very special relationship that we are blessed to witness every day. It’s one that the rest of us get to see, but not fully understand. And it is incredible!

Happy 12th Birthday Joshua and Abby Kate!!!!!!!!!!!!
